CONSIDERATIONS:
The rooms in the Twin Peaks condo are small, so consideration to space and light applied throughout the project. The bathrooms have no natural light of their own, so it applied to an even greater degree in these spaces.
Although the brief was to create beautiful, contemporary, highly livable new rooms, the budget for materials was by no means excessive. Thoughtful consideration had to be given to every purchase and an attention to detail was required in order to give this project the look and feel of a higher budget project.

THE STORY BOARDS (please click to enlarge)
These boards tell the story of the decorations for the Twin Peaks living room and dining room. They include all details from furnishings, with their wood and fabric samples, to wall colour and accessories. Story boards are used to convey the general look and feel and the proposed ambiance, as well as the relationships between individual elements, to a client in order to help him or her envisage my vision for the space. They are a very effective tool.

Here is a selection from my CAD drawings for this project. They were used to convey details from me as the designer to my client, but also to the cabinet-maker, the contractor, the electrician, the plumber and the tile-setter. They show the important technical side of the remodel and are a vital step in any remodel project.

Guest bath natural stone floor

The guest bathroom in the Twin Peaks residence was very small. By cutting and setting the natural stone to this unusual pattern, we made the most of the square footage that we had. The rest of the room was very light and bright, so this floor offered a deep and striking contrast for the room.

Rosewood used on the bathroom vanities

Early in the project, we stumbled upon this 20-year-old sheet of rosewood veneered plywood in the depths of the cabinet-makers shop. The wood is exquisitely beautiful and from it we built the vanities for both bathrooms. The result, in both cases, was of the vanities being the focus and the main attraction of each room.
