ABOUT RUTH HYNDMAN

I am an Interior Architecture + Design professional working out of beautiful Marin county in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Design has been my life's work and is my enduring passion. I have spent the past twenty-five years exploring and traveling between related design disciplines and as a result I have continued to learn and to stay fresh.

I sometimes think that interior architecture + design is the perfect design discipline for its ability to encompass so many areas of expertise. It is the world of making things look beautiful, but also of making them function and functional. It is understanding how they work and how they come together and what's possible and what's impossible. It is primarily the world of understanding what it is that the client desires and needs. It is a creative discipline with a cerebral bent.

I have an honors degree in Graphic Design (Canterbury, England). I have worked as a graphic designer, a product designer, a ceramic artist + teacher, a sculptor and an interior designer. I have established, owned and run a business designing and manufacturing minimalist, contemporary products for the interiors industry. I have also owned and run a gallery in San Francisco. My sculptural pieces can be found in private collections in London, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Japan.
